Quote From TVStar:
It's not the first time such an effort has been made by fans to save the object of their affection. Back in 2002, fans rallied to save a character from their favorite show, Stargate SG-1. When Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) was killed off unexpectedly during the show's episode "Meridian," things got ugly. They took to the trades with a full page ad which said, "Fans are fighting hard because the unique appeal of Stargate is embodied in the team of SG-1 itself... Stargate has always been, and should continue to be about these four characters exploring the universe together."
It paid off in spades, when the character was brought back to the show, and continued on for several subsequent seasons and feature films. Fans of the series Firefly also managed to save their show in the form of a feature film called Serenity (2005). There are other examples as well, so the cause is not a lost one.
